WHAT ARE VAREP CHAPTERS?

VAREP Chapters

VAREP Chapters bring the organization’s mission to the local level. Chapters train housing professionals on VA loans and military culture, organize community events and fundraisers, and support local and national veteran-focused initiatives.

Local Chapter Affiliation

  • Support veterans and servicemembers locally
  • Build relationships across real estate, lending, and housing
  • Grow leadership skills and professional experience
  • Participate in service, fundraising, and advocacy efforts
  • Access chapter events, workshops, and collaborative opportunities

What VAREP Chapters Do

  • Build local relationships with veterans, housing professionals, and community partners
  • Host educational events, homeownership workshops, and outreach activities
  • Support local and national philanthropy and veteran-focused initiatives
  • Promote advocacy and civic engagement on issues impacting the military-connected community
  • Provide opportunities for leadership, networking, and collaboration
  • Expand awareness of housing, financial readiness, and supportive services

Steps to Starting a local

  • 1. Download & Read the Chapter Launch Manual
    Understand the mission, structure, & responsibilities.
  • 2. Request a Chapter Interest Discussion
    Email us at alc@varep.org
  • 3. Complete Chapter Assessment Worksheet
    Download and Assess people, population, & partners in proposed area.
  • 4. Promote & Assemble Founding Board
    You will receive guidance, feedback, and direction throughout the process.
  • 5. Chapter Launch Application (invite only)
    This includes leadership roles, acknowledgments, and required screening.
  • 6. Onboarding & Launch
    Once approved, complete chartering, onboarding, and Chapter Launch

VAREP Chapter Standards & Disclosures

Mission First

  • Put veterans and military families first
  • Align all activity with VAREP’s mission
  • Serve the community—not individual business interests
  • Represent VAREP with professionalism

Conduct & Leadership

All members must act with professionalism, respect, and integrity, protect confidential information, and follow VAREP policies. Harassment, misuse of funds or branding, or implying endorsement for personal gain is not tolerated. Concerns should be reported. Good-faith reports are protected. Retaliation is not allowed.

Leadership Screening

Chapter and National leaders must:

  • Agree to the Code of Conduct
  • Complete a criminal background check
  • Complete a credit check for fiduciary roles

Notes:

  • Chapters do not exist to generate leads for Housing Professionals
  • Past mistakes do not automatically disqualify someone.
  • Leadership may be limited or denied for unresolved risk, patterns incompatible with trust, failure to disclose, or refusal to consent.
